A letter addressed to Sage from Wyatt
Hey Sage,
There’s something I need to tell you, and it’s not easy to put into words. For the first time in his life, Kimothy, my cousin, has asked me for something. That’s never happened before—not once. He’s always carried the weight of the world on his own, never letting anyone in. But this time, things are different.
There’s a part of my past that I’ve kept hidden, and Kimothy was right there with me through it all. Both of us were trafficked when we were younger, and it’s something we’ve never talked about with anyone. Kimothy helped me out when I didn’t have anyone else, when I didn’t even ask for it. He pulled me through when he didn’t have to, and now, he’s finally asking for my help.
Kimothy’s past is catching up to him, and now he’s being forced to confront it—not to run from it, but to protect what he has in the present and to safeguard the future for the people he cares about the most. It’s gotten to the point where staying in Polar City isn’t an option anymore. The situation is dangerous, and for the first time, he’s reached out to me. I’m going to be the one to get him out of Polar City, and I’ll stay by his side through it all.
I wanted to let you know because I trust you, Sage, and I need you to keep an eye on things here while I’m gone. I’ll let you know when we’re safe.
And Sage, while I’m doing this, I know you’ll keep fighting the good fight. What we’ve been standing for, everything we’ve been pushing against—it matters. You’ve got the strength to keep going, and I’ll be back when it’s time. Don’t lose sight of why we’re doing what we do. Take care of yourself, and keep doing what you do best.
