Steve Kachimba

Background

Steven Kachimba, who goes by Steve, was born on February 22, 1987, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Diane and Timothy Kachimba. His mother worked as an English professor at North Dakota State University, and his father was a professional artist. Thanks to his father's flexible schedule and his mother’s stable income, Steve was able to pursue his love of hockey. His father often accompanied him to practices and games, nurturing his passion for the sport.

Steve attended the University of North Dakota, where he played hockey for all four years while earning a bachelor's degree in Sports Science with a minor in Nutrition and Fitness. Despite going undrafted after graduation, he persevered and, at age 23, signed a Professional Tryout contract with the New York Rangers. He spent three years bouncing between the Rangers' NHL and AHL squads. However, at the end of his deal, the Rangers chose not to re-sign him.

Following this, Steve’s former head coach at UND offered him an assistant coaching position at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Steve accepted and coached there for four years before earning his first head coaching role at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, leading the women’s hockey team. Unfortunately, his tenure lasted only three seasons, as he was asked to step down amid NCAA allegations of multiple recruitment violations.

Seeking a fresh start, Steve decided to leave the cold north and move west to California. After managing a hockey rink in another Californian town, he and a former partner began considering a move to Los Santos. Although their relationship ended, Steve remained enamored with the idea of living in Los Santos. At 35, he packed up and relocated, determined to embrace the Californian lifestyle and begin a new chapter in his life.

The Apostles

In his former counties, Steve became acquainted with a group of gentlemen who brought him into their organization known as The Apostles. The Apostles operated a church in their city, holding regular Sunday services and confessionals. However, the church was merely a front for their illicit activities. Steve felt a deep sense of guilt and inner conflict over the things he knew and witnessed, but he tried to stay as clean as possible.

Despite his reluctance, Steve occasionally found himself coerced into participating in activities out of fear for his safety and loyalty to his friends. Still, he found a sense of belonging and camaraderie with The Apostles that he hadn’t experienced elsewhere. However, the criminal lifestyle took its toll, as his brothers often pressured him into being the fourth man on jobs and moving goods for them.

Eventually, The Apostles dissolved during what they called their “Last Supper,” parting ways and leaving Steve on his own once more. Seeking a fresh start, he moved south to the city of Polar. With the knowledge and lessons gained from his past experiences, Steve approached this new chapter of his life with cautious optimism, ready to embrace whatever lay ahead at the age of 37.
